Artist's Biography

Throughout  my lifetime, my goal was  to become a professional Artist.  The Art classes I took in College opened my eyes and reinforced that wish,  but as things go, I married, left school, and then served two years in the Army.  After ending my service,  I entered our  family  business and put my dreams on hold in order to make a living for my family, which now included a Son.

I drew and painted  in the evenings and on weekends , and never let go of my desire, to one day, become a  professional  artist. The family business is long since gone, and my Son is grown with a family of his own.

After working as a Mechanical Contractor and then managing projects for 13 years at the University of Nebraska,  I had to decide if I should remain in the comforts of a secure job, or,  to  pursue my life's ambition of becoming an Artist.  I left the University in  July of 2008.

I had always believed that I would become a Portrait Artist,  but along the way,  I fell  in love with painting our landscape. We enjoy  a simple beauty in the Midwest, and I attempt to capture that feeling  in my work.  I believe in the phrase, "paint what you know", therefore, I don't attempt to portray a landscape which I'm not familiar with.  I've come to appreciate the small towns and the people that live there. We enjoy an open landscape with expansive skies. To all this, we have four very distinctive seasons,  which renew  my  motivation to  paint this land and lifestyle which I love.
